151,644 unique MCP servers across ten major directories and registries, each with its sources and history.

Each server counts once, however many directories list it. Glama, PulseMCP and mcp.so listings arrive through MCP Toplist’s open dataset, used under CC BY 4.0. 13,995 listings from bulk publishers wait for review.

  11. Every MCP Official MCP Registry search_tools: description changed (+"Ordered by relevance, except that results with official_match true come first and results with has_public_source true come next. official_match is true when the query, ignoring the words mcp and server, is exactly the brand of the server's publisher namespace, exactly one publisher namespace in the search index has that brand, and the server is also one of the three closest matches by relevance; a server under that namespace that matches less closely keeps its place and has official_match false. The brand is the registered name of the domain the namespace names, such as linear for app.linear (linear.app); code-host namespaces such as io.github.* and namespaces beneath a shared host such as workers.dev have none. The registry requires proof of control of a domain to publish under it; we run no check of our own, and the flag says only that the domain carries the name searched for, not who operates the server. has_public_source is true when the record's repository URL is an owner/repo URL on github.com or gitlab.com that we link as source code, unless a check of GitHub within the last 7 days found that the github.com repository does not exist or is not public. No such check is made for gitlab.com. Within each group, a result whose publisher owns its GitHub repository, as checked within the last 7 days, moves up a little with the repository's stars, at most once per repository in a response, and moves down when the repository is archived.")

Every MCP Official MCP Registry server instructions changed (+"Search results with official_match true come first, then those with has_public_source true, then the rest, each group in order of relevance. official_match is true when the query, ignoring the words mcp and server, is exactly the brand of the server's publisher namespace, exactly one publisher namespace in the search index has that brand, and the server is also one of the three closest matches by relevance; a server under that namespace that matches less closely keeps its place and has official_match false. The registry requires proof of control of a domain to publish under it; we run no check of our own, and the flag says only that the domain carries the name searched for, not who operates the server. That is why domain_verified stays null. has_public_source is true when the record's repository URL is an owner/repo URL on github.com or gitlab.com that we link as source code, unless a check of GitHub within the last 7 days found that the github.com repository does not exist or is not public. No such check is made for gitlab.com. Within each group, a result whose publisher owns its GitHub repository, as checked within the last 7 days, moves up a little with the repository's stars, at most once per repository in a response, and moves down when the repository is archived. Unlike the verification fields neither flag is ever null. repository_public, repository_stars, repository_last_push and repository_archived in the verification object come from a daily check of GitHub. The last three are also null when the publisher does not own the GitHub repository, because another owner's stars say nothing about this record. For those three, ownership is GitHub's current owner: the io.github account itself, or for a domain namespace an owner whose profile website is on that domain. repository_public does not depend on ownership. publisher_owns_repository instead reads the repository URL as published, without asking GitHub, so it can disagree with the three signal fields when a repository has moved to another account since the URL was written, and it is null for a domain namespace.")
